This work seeks to show the importance of the problem of universals in the middle ages in particular the figure of Peter Abelard and as he sought to resolve this matter generated by Plato and Aristotle and transmitted to medieval period by the comment of Severino Boethius Isagoge of Porphyry's work. Analyzing the complexity of this topic, We see the need for a clearer understanding of this subject and cohesive, considering what little clarification concerning medieval philosophy with regard to the problem of universals.
