Há uma limitação logística importante em relação à busca por produtos em locais mais distantes em função da perecibilidade. Portanto, mesmo sendo desejo do gerente local, a eliminação dos fornecedores regionais parece não ser o melhor caminho a ser seguido.
Os entrevistados manifestaram a incerteza em relação à situação e à falta de solução para a questão. Talvez uma presença maior da empresa junto aos fornecedores locais, através de contratos formais e cooperação durante o processo produtivo, poderia melhorar o fornecimento. Porém, parece ser cultura da empresa atuar no mercado aberto e colher os benefícios desse tipo de arranjo. Daí vem a preocupação de que um arranjo mais estruturado com os produtores locais de hortifrutis possa elevar o preço desses produtos para o consumidor final. Percebe-se, também, que o carro chefe do negócio é composto dos produtos obtidos da central de compras e, portanto, não parece haver muita disposição por parte dos dirigentes da empresa no sentido de tornar mais eficiente a aquisição dos hortifrutis
Portanto, a gestão da cadeia de produtos comprados na região apresenta falhas e ineficiências em relação ao arranjo informal (contrato verbal) estabelecido com os fornecedores, mas a solução ainda não foi apontada pelos dirigentes da empresa.
