Segurança e saúde são elementos imprescindíveis quando o propósito é manter um ambiente de trabalho sadio e produtivo. Os profissionais de saúde, inseridos na atividade de prestação de serviços de saúde, executam atividades que requerem grande proximidade física com o paciente pela característica do cuidar em enfermagem, bem como pela utilização e manuseio de materiais e equipamentos. Diante disso, este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar as medidas de prevenção de infecções hospitalares na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. É vital que no hospital, tenha uma Comissão, onde se é orientado e fiscalizado o uso de Equipamento de Proteção Individual (EPI) pelos profissionais de saúde, como forma de barreira para doenças infecto-contagiosas que se destacam como principais fontes de transmissão de microorganismo para os profissionais e para os pacientes. Além dessas, a lavagem das mãos, higiene do leito e limpeza do local, são métodos simples que geram resultados satisfatórios. Em relação à metodologia, destaca-se a pesquisa bibliográfica por meio de livros e artigos relacionados ao tema em questão. Conclui-se portanto que para diminuir os casos de infecção hospitalar torna- se viável a utilização de técnicas anticépticas tanto no ambiente como nos procedimentos e materiais que serão usados no paciente. Sendo assim, os enfermeiros devem colocar em prática o uso de Equipamentos de Proteção Individual (EPI’s). Além dessas, a lavagem das mãos, higiene do leito e limpeza do local, são métodos simples que geram resultados satisfatórios.

It is concluded therefore that to reduce hospital infection cases becomes feasible the use of deterministic techniques anticépticas both in the environment and in the procedures and materials that will be used on the patient. Therefore, nurses must put into practice the use of Individual protection equipment (IPE). In addition, handwashing, hygiene and cleanliness of the local bed, are simple methods that generate satisfactory results.
