O reaproveitamento ou reúso da água

O reaproveitamento ou reúso da água é o processo pelo qual a água, tratada ou não, é reutilizada para o mesmo ou outro fim. Essa reutilização pode ser direta ou indireta, decorrentes de ações planejadas ou não.

- Reúso indireto não planejado da água: ocorre quando a água, utilizada em alguma atividade humana, é descarregada no meio ambiente e novamente utilizada a jusante, em sua forma diluída, de maneira não intencional e não controlada.

Caminhando até o ponto de captação para o novo usuário, a mesma está sujeita às ações naturais do ciclo hidrológico (diluição, autodepuração).

- Reúso indireto planejado da água: ocorre quando os efluente depois de tratados são descarregados de forma planejada nos corpos de águas superficiais ou subterrâneas, para serem utilizadas a jusante, de maneira controlada, no atendimento de algum uso benéfico.

O reuso indireto planejado da água pressupõe que exista também um controle sobre as eventuais novas descargas de efluentes no caminho, garantindo assim que o efluente tratado estará sujeito apenas a misturas com outro efluentes que também atendam ao requisitos de qualidade do reuso objetivado.

- Reúso direto planejado das águas: ocorre quando os efluentes, após tratados, são encaminhados diretamente de seu ponto de descarga até o local do reúso, não sendo descarregados no meio ambiente. É o caso com maior ocorrência, destinando-se a uso em indústria ou irrigação.

- Reciclagem de água: é o reúso interno da água, antes de sua descarga em um sistema geral de tratamento ou outro local de disposição. Essas tendem, assim, como fonte suplementar de abastecimento do uso original. Este é um caso particular do reúso direto planejado.
