The poem of Beowulf is considered the first text of Anglo-Saxon literature, much of the work really accurately portray the behavior and the thought of medieval Scandinavian pre-Christian and pre-viking. Beowulf tells the adventures of a valiant warrior who travels to the region where today is Denmark, with a small group of allies to confront a monstrous creature named Grendel. Although it has been written with Christian overtones (it should be noted that the references to the gods of Christianity in the work) it is possible to identify in text the heroic motives of their persanagens, typical of the Warriors of time entering in wars in search of adventures.
